I'm so very angry with all of you at Kistler!!! I received a MgHCFS68 for my anniversary and it has totally ruined what I thought was a fairly decent ...

Helium passes the Muskellunge challenge...

Postby jcheetam » 8/30/04 9:56am

I had a 2-day ABA tournament on St. Clair this past weekend. With a huge thunderstorm looming minutes away, I decided to fish near the launch until the storm passed. We launched out of Harley Ensign, which is a DNR launch on the South end of Anchor Bay. Anchor Bay is a pretty popular area for Muskie, and while fishing with my He70MHS rod and 4" tube jig, I caught my first muskie of the year. The fish was approx. 40 inches (not quite legal, but one heck of a fun fish to catch) and was around 12-15 pounds. The fish made three of the most acrobatic jumps I have ever seen (launching itself 3-4 ft out of the water each time), before rolling on it's side in defeat. This is by far the largest fish I have caught on my He70MHS, and was extremely pleased with how well it handled this fish. If you are looking for a spinning rod with enough backbone to handle the big fish, look no further...

Jeff,

Nice story! Where's the picture? I would love to put it on the Kistler Wall of Fame here at the office.

Anyone else with a picture of their Kistler rod and big fish, send it in to us to brag about with you.

Congrats on the nice fish.

Call me superstitious Trey, but I never bring my ( - - blocked - - ) on the boat during a tournament. I will, however, bring my ( - - blocked - - ) out this fall when I go hunting for a 50 incher. You will definitely see a picture of a fish that big! (To make it interesting, I'm going to use my He70MHC to throw a bucktail and am thinking about using one of my He70MC for tossing a small spoon).
