Hit the water about 2:00 P.M. Water temp 83 degrees. Pretty heavy wind out of the North. I fished sttructure for the first two hours with no success. I decided to try a little "Bubba-shotting". I moved to the north end of the lake and positioned the boat over the creek channel (9 feet deep). My thoughts were to let the wind push me down the creek channel and just fish all the structure and the drop off as I drifted back to the south end of the lake. I cast back into the wind and took up the slack in my line, working my lure with slight twitches, while maintaining contact with the bottom. About 50 yards into the drift, I felt a very light tap, that did'nt feel like structure. I set the hook and my rod doubled. The fish started taking drag and making a run for the cover she had come out of to kill my Brushog. I turned her back toward the boat and started reeling on her. As she ( - - blocked - - ) up, I saw the white flash of her side and knew it was a good fish. At this point, I ( - - blocked - - ) out of the casting chair and got in bottom of the boat.

She made another hard run for the treetop and I had to tighten on the drag again. As she got a look at the boat, she blasted toward the bottom with amazing power. I got her turned again and she ( - - blocked - - ) over on her side. I pulled her to the boat, leaned over the side, lipped her and sat down on the casting deck. When I first hooked the fish, my wife thought I was hung up (again

). My hands were shaking so bad she had to get the hook.
I know it is not that big a fish, but it is the best fish I have caught since I started back fishing 4 months ago. A big thanks to all the guys that so freely offer information and advice. What a great forum. Big thank you to Sdesign for the link to the "Bubba-shot" video, Lightninrod for the SEAGAUR F/C...never would have caught her without your help fellers! =D> =D>
I caught 4 fish total on the day, all on the Bubba-shot rig, a dink, 2 1lbers and the 5lber.
The rigs: Kistler Helium HE70MC, Shimano Chronarch SF, SEAGAUR 15# F/C.
Kistler Helium HE69APC, Diawa TD-S, SEAGAUR 12# F/C.
The Bubba rig: Gammy 2/0 EWG with a 18" tag and a 1/4oz. BPS drop shot cylinder weight, and a Watermelon/Red ZOOM Baby Brushog.
Ignore the silly grin, I get pumped anytime I catch a fish.
