Meet Kistler Pro Staff member Diane DeLaGarza
Mon, 3 Mar 2008
Diane DeLaGarza is a name that most people recognize when watching the FLW Tour. DeLaGarza is a very accomplished co-angler who has set some lofty goals for her upcoming 2008 FLW Tour. Diane has set a goal of trying to make as any top 10’s as she can this season, with the final goal of qualifying for the FLW Championship. DeLaGarza is a former competitor in the WBT Trail.
The Garlin,Texas resident has been with Kistler for almost 3 years now. The story of how she first made contact with Kistler is quite unusual. When fishing in a tournament, Diane’s husband accidentally stepped on and broke his co-angler’s rod. Her husband (Hector) said that he would replace the rod. Hector and Diane then went to the Kistler offices and replaced the rod for the co-angler. While visiting, Diane and Hector impressed the Kistler staff and they were able to make a deal that would be a winning situation for both sides.
Diane has managed to split her time between being a mother of two and being a competitive angler on the FLW Tour. Diane says that her family is her biggest supporter of her angling career. Hector is also a FLW angler who fishes on the pro side of the tour.
DeLaGarza considers shallow water cranking and Carolina rig fishing her strong suits. When asked about her favorite rod, Diane said that she loves her 6’ 6” Helium LTA. She chose this rod because of its sensitivity and its backbone. She considers this rod perfect for handling the large smallmouths in the Detroit River. Diane says that the Detroit River is her favorite body of water, because of the fact that each cast has the potential to be a monster smallmouth.
DeLaGarza is a member of the National Guard team. She represents them while fishing and during appearances at the FLW Family Fun Zone. Diane has earned respect, from both anglers and co-anglers alike, because of her ability and her infectious love for her family and angling.
Good luck Diane from all of us at Kistler Rods!
